The East Baton Rouge Metro Council is the governing body for the City of Baton Rouge and East Baton Rouge Parish (City-Parish) that meets bi-monthly at City Hall to discuss and vote on issues relevant to the City-Parish.
The Council consists of 12 members from 12 City-Parish districts and is headed by the Mayor Pro Tempore who presides over meetings and serves on behalf of the Mayor-President if he or she is unavailable.
Role

Establish policy for the City-Parish and districts under its authority.

Approve the annual City-Parish budget and decide how to spend surplus.

Appoint the members of boards and commissions in the City-Parish or its districts.
